Push protection

How should I achieve it?

They went on in staff chat about some detention for spamming and quite honestly I'd prefer preventing players from breaking that rule altogether so in attempts to prevent depulso/flippendo spam without harming silly-fun.

What should I do? prevent pushing in safe zones while afk sign is up? Add some way to block pushing? Ideas?

Apeiro

Maybe block movement for people reading books? It's not limited only to flippendo/depulso. Tarantallegra and replacio also cause annoyances when you're afk.

Rotem

I don't care if people's reading is halted, I care about spamming.

Ben

Only allow Depulso/Flippendo to produce one text output? So the first time it's used, the person being pushed will see "You were pushed back by Ricky's Depulso!" and then give it some time before they'll see that message again.

Rotem

No no, text spam was dealt with, we're talking movement, for example, someone randomly trying to drag you all the way from the library 3 floors away.

Gianki123

Could there be a personal toggle? like if i dont mind id have push protection off, and viceversa

Ben

Limit the pushing to like 5 per minute or something? It may not stop someone who's desperate to move someone but most people won't want to wait around just to move someone.

Rotem

You don't understand.

You can't harm the basic gameplay, people like to use depulso and flippendo. There's no logic in adding a toggle setting because that harms the feeling that you're in a magical world capable of griefing other wizards using your very short wand to feel good about yourself.

The question is, how do we filter between silly play to malicious spam.

Ben

I don't see any way around that other than make people impervious to Depulso when they have AFK toggled.

Traxicous

Maybe have it so it puts up an temporary immunity if you get pushed enough so there isn't spam. Though the player should be able to bypass it so there would still be silly fun.

Is there a way where you can make one specific room where people can't use those spells, like the library or the study hall.
That way if people want to avoid being spammed or moved around AFK, they can go to that place.
It's just a thought, but I don't know.

IMO, since we have a spell to stop Transfiguration, following and telen, why not make a spell that will stop you from being pushed?

Valorus isn't permanent, Antifigura can easily go off when the person keeps using a spell on you, Occlumency wears off.. so if anything, if we added a spell that 'stops' pushing, it'd just go the same direction as these.

Since like Rotem said, it'll harm/ruin the gameplay if we just had something permanent to stop someone from doing 1 thing that is often used in the game.

But if anything, Depulso is like a real life push. You can only stop someone from pushing you is if you stood your ground, attacked, yelled at their ass. Flippendo is kinda like the game Dodge ball, you have to stand your ground or dodge just to not get hit/fall over, honestly lol

Problem with this is in my experience people used the spells in duels so in that case people could just toggle the spell to block it and fuck up someone elses dueling style

Good point, unless it can somehow check to see if you're dueling. Especially in areas where it can be disabled to where you can't use it. The only issue that would be tricky is outside and some inside areas.
