Hogwarts Years

Something I notice new players usually tend to say while leveling up when playing the game is, "Wow, I am already a second year," after only reaching level 16. I have been thinking for a while now of a different system/requirement for reaching the next year at Hogwarts. Maybe instead of just only having to level up to advance, there could be a specific amount of spells we would need to learn in order to move on. This could be a relatively small amount at first but then gradually increase as the student moves on through the game.

For example:
Year 1: No requirement
Year 2: Level 16 and 5 spells learned
Year 3: Level 51 and 10 spells learned
Year 4: Level 101 and 20 spells learned
Year 5: Level 201 and 30 spells learned
Year 6: Level 301 and 45 spells learned
Year 7: Level 401 and 60 spells learned
Hogwarts Graduate: Level 501 and all 77 spells learned. (That is how many spells are available to students.)

The main reason why I think something like this would be cool to have is because at the moment, why do we still have Hogwarts Graduates still coming to school and learning spells if they are technically graduated? With this new system, a student wouldn't be considered a graduate until learning all there was for them to learn at Hogwarts.

I know this tends to complicate other aspects of the game such as titles, but what if titles were changed so that anyone could wear them without having to be a graduate and then on Who, all players Year/Rank plus their Title would be displayed instead of just grouping them into one.

Please let me know what you guys think, and thank you for your time.

+1.  Very well thought out post.  Awesome idea and beautifully written, Dylan.  I would love to see something like this implemented in the game.  Hope to see more suggestions from you soon, keep up the good work.

Why is the numbers like: 10, 20,30, 45 then straight into 60 then 77 spells for 501 (lvl)+?
Shouldn't it be like:
10
20
30
40
50
60
70+ spells earn.
Just thought I would point it out & ask about this.

That was just an example, and I did it that way because it would be a gradual increase as you got higher in Years, which would also make it more difficult as you went on. I suppose it could also be done in tens as well. Thank you for your reply, Mel! :) Have a wonderful day!

I don't know whether adding 8 level caps would be wise, a lot of people complain that TWC lacks progress and the only thing that keeps them going is the path to the level cap, if they relied on classes in order to level it might discourage them, especially when people complain the most about lacking spells.

If we ever add a method solely dependent on grinding to gain spells this may come in handy as it adds a new aspect to leveling, without that however there's little purpose to this.
