Since we seem to be starting up everything again, maybe introducing seasonal Quidditch again could be possible.
Have the whole ordeal..Captains, Co-Captains, actual matches etc

Sounds awesome  :D

+ 1 sounds great !!!! :)

You all sound really excited about Quidditch. To bad that if we brought it back it would die again in a month like it always has. How about ideas how to keep qudditch alive first rather then the same demand that we bring it back, and when we do, people stop caring about it again.

Skystone

Well, how did the previous Quidditch go? What were the rules? What happened? How many people usually came at first?
I'd like to know some things in order to think of ideas for Quidditch.

Well, we can still just see for now. We have a pretty decent fanbase, and it's active as far as I can see. Plus, summer break is coming.

i would love to see quidditch take off like duelling?

I would be very interested in a series of teams being put together and to play against each other - maybe a quidditch captain for each house and they're in charge of getting a team together once a week to play another house?

it would give people who aren't maybe into duelling or some other stuff to excel in this - rewards such as greatest seeker/chaser/keeper statues to go around the pitch or something, i don't know.

could be some real cool events ..

Please understand that I see something similar to this a few times each year.

Organized teams with quidditch has never managed to work. You can have as many 'reserve' players as you like, it's just damn near impossible to reliably get two organized teams of players online at the same time.
Quidditch as it stands just doesn't seem to be as fun as people would like it to be. To combat that in the past I've tried just... Having some random matches happen after which people are supposed to give me feedback of things to change. I never really got much feedback, and the desire to play usually drops pretty quickly.

I'm willing to try again, but I doubt you'll be able to have set teams - especially not house teams. At time of my reply there are 4 ravenclaws online.
Maybe just opening the pitch and making it possible for players to start matches themselves would alleviate the problem from our end.

"Maybe just opening the pitch and making it possible for players to start matches themselves would alleviate the problem from our end."

I really like that idea. Do you feel that would be possible for other mini games like FFA and capture the flag? Maybe it could be set up like duels where it times out if players don't respond in time.

I think this would give the players some more freedom, and ease the burden on GMs so events could take place with out them.

Lucifer has mentioned wanting something like that, so yeah, hopefully.

I agree that Quidditch does die down quickly, but maybe we just need to give it that extra edge to keep it up and running.

As many of you know, Quidditch is a competitive sport played mainly by wizards and witches. There are 2 teams, consisting of 7 players on each side. The goal of the game is to either catch the snitch and win the game, or have a 150 point advantage on the opposing team for the big W.

For more information on Quidditch, you can go to the following post made by Rotem: http://forum.wizardschronicles.com/index.php?topic=337.0

Many people try to find ways of a source of income. The Ministry of Magic (MoM) can provide jobs on and off of the Quidditch pitch. An announcer, Quijudge (Otherwise known as a Quidditch Referee), or even a ticket booth operator can be some of those jobs provided. The ticket booth operator would be more ideal for a World Cup event of some sort, which could be a type of end game content outside of Hogwarts. In the meantime, Quidditch will be inside the school until end game content is released for Hogwarts graduates.

  • The announcer would state game statistics, players, what's going on in the game, exaggerated comments of people who scored, etc.
  • There can be multiple Quidditch Referees, they would be selected/hired by the Department of Magical Games and Sports, sub category of the Ministry of Magic. They must have the highest quality broom available to them + have it mastered. Take, and pass severe flying tests, as well as exams on the rules of Quidditch.
  • While Quidditch is played within Hogwarts, students will not be charged an entry fee. So, a ticket booth operator would generally not be used during those matches. IF an expansion pack is added onto the game for Hogwarts graduates, then a new Quidditch pitch could be mapped. I would be happy to make a blueprint of a new pitch. It would have VIP sections, box tickets, and of course general admission. Therefore, the booth operator would sell tickets to those looking to be seated in those designated areas.

In the list above, I stated that Quijudges "must have the highest quality broom available to them + have it mastered." This ties into my suggestion regarding a new broom system. There will be 5 brooms, each broom will have a set speed. Speed will be rated from 1-5. 1 being the slowest, and 5 being the fastest. These brooms would be available to everyone, unless feedback shows that some brooms should only be provided to Quidditch players.

1.) Comet 290 - The Comet 290 is really just a "get around" broom. For beginners, slowest broom around.
- Speed = 1
2.) Cleansweep Seven - The Cleansweep Seven is the standard Quidditch broomstick, it is the lowest quality broom required to play in a Quidditch match.
- Speed = 2 (Speed in which we are at now)
3.) Nimbus 2000
- Speed = 3
4.) Nimbus 2001 - The Nimbus 2001 is a pricy, yet excellent broom. Would be black in color, and a step up in speed.
- Speed = 4
5.) Firebolt - The Firebolt is the fastest, most agile broom around. This broom would also be the priciest. (Required for Quidditch Referees)
- Speed = 5

You must master each of these brooms (10%-100%) in order to ride at full speed. Mastering comes in time over use of your broomstick.

I do agree that it is almost impossible to get 2 reserved teams on at the same time, but it can be done. There should be a scheduled match every week, or two weeks leading up to Quidditch finals within Hogwarts. These matches should be scheduled for the weekends, because that is when most of our players have the time to get on. I was looking more towards house teams, but I see the problem with the number of players in each house. (Mainly Hufflepuff) I feel as if captain tryouts should be held, and after captains are picked, they are given 1-2 months to find their teams for each house. That then leads us to the question, "What if the captain can't find enough players in their house at the end of Quidditch tryouts?" Honestly, I'm not sure..

I like the idea of opening the pitch, because it takes a great deal to wait for a GM to open the pitch for us. Back in the day, some students were given Quidditch boxes. This could be done again for team captains. To stray from complaints regarding players pestering others on the pitch, maybe a captain badge would be the only way to open the doors leading to the actual pitch. (That way the captain could let in who is needed)

Feedback???

Murrawhip

Different speeds is not possible in TWC.
Our peak playing time is not on the weekend.
