Bring back old House Wars.

I suggest we bring back the original House Wars.

The old House Wars arena is kind of an antique and milestone in TWC history for House Wars and I think it should be there to stay.

It was a smaller map than current House Wars also you only had 1 life, so it's a different kind of game style.

All that would be required to bring it back is Murra or Ander to map it as they both knew what it looked like.

I think the map is still there. Anywho, present Housewars could just have an added option to determine how many lives you have. The issue I had with the old house wars was that it was more difficult for the GM to set up, and that it doesn't seem as fun for a newbie who's going to get killed in the first 5 seconds then need to wait upwards of 3-5 minutes for the next round to start, instead of simply respawning.

Probs something we could do as a once-in-a-while type dealio, though.

I like the old style personally, the new is fun too - but it's more than just the 1 life thing.

The look of the older map, the smaller size and the old school-ness to it makes it kinda cool. Even telendevour'ing your house members when you die to watch is always fun.

It can be a little bit of work for a GM to moderate but usually it's fine.

If I had to make one suggestion to improve it - Make it like FFA is so when you die you get put in the middle room (you also don't lose any gold or EXP) and you're able to watch from there, then go back out next round.

Why would you have Murra do that when we have a fully functional house wars, and he just said he could work with you to add some optional settings for it? It sounds like it would be a waste of time for an older system that wouldn't be used on a regular basis. I think, as well as other I'm assuming, that his time could be better spent else where than bringing back the entire old system.

It was just a side suggestion, to have the old House Wars set up back itself is awesome. A lot of people like it, as proven this week when we mapped it ourselves in the game. It's not a waste of time to give people value they like and will use.

Once again, why would Murra go through all that trouble to add it back in, when you could have the same thing with the current system? Set lives, etc. I mean, I don't see the point of bringing back the old system EXACTLY as it was, when it could just have the same features with the new system that works quite a bit better.

Murras issue as quoted, " The issue I had with the old house wars was that it was more difficult for the GM to set up, and that it doesn't seem as fun for a newbie who's going to get killed in the first 5 seconds then need to wait upwards of 3-5 minutes for the next round to start, instead of simply respawning."

Murra's solution as quoted, "Anywho, present Housewars could just have an added option to determine how many lives you have."

Sounds to me like the extra effort is a big waste of time when it could be similar with the current fully functional system.

I personally think that adding lives to the current system as an option would be plenty, and bringing back an old system that requires staff to setup would be a big waste of time. This is my input on the matter.

It's not that much trouble. It's copy & pasting map as Murrawhip said.

Coming from a guy who arguably hosted the old House Wars more than anyone else a few years ago I can vouch that it wasn't that hard to set up. I never had any problems doing it. You'd get a random noob trying to ruin the event every now and then, no big deal.

Keyword here - similar. Yes, it's similar but it's not the same. The old house wars are much more than 1 life, it's the old style to the map. A much smaller and more intense battleground. Less space to run away and hide.

I disagree. See reasons why above. I don't see the big deal about it, it's literally just putting the map back in - that's it. It was only removed a little while ago, it was here for a long time.

What exactly do you mean by "staff to setup?"

All a GM has to do is invite people to play, explain the rules, moderate the round. I used to even host the game and play myself  too once people knew the rules.

Anywho, Murrawhip already gave me the answer I was seeking:

It's just a really cool thing to have back to play every now and then. That's all. :D

As for the sizes, if the current house wars map is too big, it could be made smaller.

What I find most important in this suggestion is the lives option.
"Deathmatch" mode where people have counted lives means that weak players no longer serve as a disadvantage.
Currently if a house has 20 level 1 players they'd have a huge disadvantage since it's easier to get points by killing them, they could just avoid the higher leveled players.

I would love to have this option with the new automated house wars set ups.

Ofcourse the old map could also be copy pasted back in and that map could be used for different events(Who said only house wars can occur with it?!).
