Welcome to Harry Potter: The Wizards' Chronicles, newcomer! I really hope you like it here, because the people are great and the game is even greater!

The directionals are quite easy. Use your arrow keys to move, and when I say something like, "Move north," or "Move west," it simply means this: North = UP arrow. South = DOWN arrow. East = RIGHT arrow. West = LEFT arrow.

Once you've made your account, you start off in a square room, with a portal in each corner, a fountain in the center, and - if you move north - there should be a stone path directly above it.
Walk up to this path - right up to it, and keep moving north, and the wall will open up for you to walk through, like so:

Once you get past the moving wall, you are officially in Diagon Alley. This is a street filled with shops to make your time on The Wizards' Chronicles more enjoyable.
However, before you begin on your journey, you must get a wand. The wand shop (Ollivander's) is the first door on your right.

Walk in, and stand in front of Ollivander. Right-click him, and select Shop. Don't worry about money just yet - you start off with 100 gold, which is just enough for your wand.

Ollivander will browse around for your wand, and offer one to you for purchase. Click Yes, and then leave his shop. To draw your wand, go underneath your Items tab, right-click the wand, and select Draw Wand.

Now that your wand is purchased, it's finally time to go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy, where all the magic happens (no pun intended).

You should be standing in the alley again. From there, there are two ways to get to the castle. The first way is Reception, which I will explain more to you later. For now, we'll take the other route.

Walk south, down past the moving walls again. You should be in the room where you started again. Remember those portals I mentioned? Walk into one of them - it doesn't matter which, because they all go to the same place.

You'll come to a path right underneath what is called the Pixie Pit. It might look slightly different to you, depending on the season or current weather. Tongue Keep going down that path until you come to a crossroads.

Going west will take you to the Forbidden Forest. East back where you just came from. South will take you to Student Housing, and by extension Hogsmeade. North will take you to your current destination - Hogwarts. So walk up until you come to the doors. Walk in and - voila! - you're in Hogwarts!

Now that you've made it to the castle, let's take a break from exploring and go over how to do certain things. By now, you should have noticed the Chat Screen on the left side of your screen. Above this is your Stats, Items, Commands, and Spells tab.

When you'd like to talk on OOC, it broadcasts what you say to the whole game. Everyone can see what you're saying! Now, to do this, go under your Commands tab, and click the button OOC. A box that you can type in should come up.

Type in that box, press OK, and you've said something in OOC. However, sometimes you won't want to use OOC. To talk to the people closest to you (anyone in your view can hear this), use Say. Using Say is quite simple, too. Go into Commands, click Say, and a similar box should come up. Type in that box, click OK, and then you've talked to the people near you.

There is one more way to talk to people, and it is called Whispering. Whispering allows you to say something only to a person (or people) that are on a space directly next to yours somehow. To Whisper, go under Commands and click Say again. When the Say text box pops up, type in [w] before your message. Here is an example:

To learn Spells, you go to classes. Classes are held by the GM's (Game Masters), or Professors, of the game. The current Professors are: Chrissy (our current Deputy Headmistress) for Transfiguraton, Theodore Richards for Defense Against the Dark Arts, Zane Aerax for Charms, Xioshen for Care of Magical Creatures, and Justin (who is our current Headmaster) for a General Course of Magic.

One commonly asked question is: When are classes? Well, if you'd dawdled with your Commands, you'd know the answer to that! There is a button under Commands labeled Class Schedule. Click it, and check the times for class (make sure you're going by TWC time...there is a clock in the schedule). Remember - do NOT ask for classes! It's against the rules! Most teachers are fairly good about holding classes during their class-time, and if they don't, DON'T NAG. Your Professors have lives, and you need to give them a break.

Now let's go over your Tabs. When you start out, your tabs will be as follows: Stats, Items, Commands, Spells. Let's go over them in order. Cheesy

Stats

Your year is a neat little part of TWC life. You always start off a first year, and then you advance to second year at level 16. As you level up, you grow stronger and your year progresses higher and higher, until you become a Hogwarts graduate!

Next up is Gold, and that can make life on TWC much more enjoyable! You keep your gold in the bank, Gringotts, which can be found on Diagon Alley. With gold you can buy accessories or jokes (like Peruvian Instant Darkness Powder, or Swamp In Ya Pocket), and many other things.

After level and year is HP/MP. Your Health Points are simple enough. Attack spells or monsters can damage you, lowering your HP. If you run out of HP, you will be knocked out and sent to the Infirmary. As you level up, your HP and MP also raises higher and higher. (To check ALL your stats, like Strength or Speed etc, you need to find a Mysterious Old Man in-game).

Your MP, or Mana Points, control how much magic you can use. As you use certain spells, your MP will go down. For instance, if you use Incindia (which uses 950 MP), then your MP will lower by that much. To restore your Mana Points, click Meditate under Commands.

Your House, which you should know about if you've ever read the Harry Potter books (or seen the movies), is sort-of like your in-game family. In classes, you can answer questions correctly to earn House Points. You can train in the House common room, and talk with friends on your House Channel.

And finally, your EXP (Experience)! Notice in the picture above that your EXP goes as such: current exp/total exp. You train on books, people, or monsters to gain EXP. When your current EXP finally reaches the Total EXP, you gain a level.

This brings us to our next topic...training! One type of training is simple enough - killing things. Various types of monsters can be found around the map of TWC that you can kill for EXP and money and sometimes Stat Points (which you can use to boost your Stats). It might be easier for you to start out on pixies.

Another type of training that I'll explain in more detail, is reading books. Books can be found in various locations around Hogwarts (Great Hall, Library, etc.). To train on a book, simply walk up to it and click Read Book. Like so:

Or, you could make a macro. If you don't know how to set a macro, click this link: http://forum.wizardschronicles.com/index.php?topic=1260.0! It's Omar's guide on how to make a macro and it's really quite helpful.

As your level increases, you can move onto other books that give you more EXP per read. A book list is located here: http://forum.wizardschronicles.com/index.php?topic=334.0!

Let's venture outside Hogwarts now. To go to Reception, say 'Reception' in Say, and you will be teleported there. This is a quick way to get to Student Housing or the Quidditch Pitch.

You will appear in this room:

Go left into the Portal, and you will appear in Student Housing. The name is descriptive enough - this is where many player-owned houses are. Also, the graveyard is located nearby, as well as Animation, TWC's "nightclub." Performances are put on here, while food is served. It's always a fun time!

If you go South in SH, you'll find yourself in Hogsmeade. It's neat to wander around there, going through all the shops and the museum.

Our last topic is dueling! Dueling is a fun little sport played in-game. Two players go onto a Dueling Mat, and strategically fire spells to knock the other player out. There is a dueling mat located in your Common Room, and in the Dueling Arena. To find this, go back to Hogwarts. Go back to Reception, go through the Portal, and keep going North until you get to Hogwarts. Then walk up the red carpet until you get to the four-way crossroads, and go left. That room is the dueling arena!

See the button with the white square I put around it? Click that center button to start/join a duel. If somebody else joins your duel, click it once more to bow to them. There will be a countdown, and then your duel will begin!

Finally, we have rules. TWC is an enjoyable game to play, but there are boundaries. A pop-up of the rules will appear every time you log in, so make sure you read them! You'll notice a Donate button on the bottom of the Rules list. Well, Murrawhip does a LOT to keep this game up and running. He's working constantly to make it better, but it isn't free. He needs help with hosting fees, and that's where we come in! If you have a PayPal account, by all means send whatever you can to Murrawhip by clicking that Donate button. Any donation is appreciated!

After all this, just have fun exploring the castle, going to classes, and training. Within no time you'll get the hang of things. I hope to see you in-game!

Thanks for playing! Wink
